Friends of the Verde River

Organization Overview

Friends of the Verde River (Friends) works collaboratively for a healthy, flowing Verde River system. Friends is a non-profit based in Cottonwood, Arizona, that implements on-the-ground projects, facilitates regional coordination, and informs statewide policy from the local perspective. Over the past decade, Friends has grown into an organization with professional staff implementing conservation in the Verde Watershed at a landscape scale. We focus our work on restoring habitat, sustaining river flows, and building supportive communities. We proactively engage in a combination of “boots-on-the-ground” projects and policy solutions guided by sound conservation principles and which meet human and environmental needs in an outcomes-oriented manner. Volunteers are critical to the work we do, and we hope you will join us!

Typical Volunteer Tasks
