Oak Creek Watershed Council

Organization Overview

Oak Creek Watershed Council works to protect Oak Creek through stewardship engagement, partnerships with local agencies and interest groups, outreach and education, and scientific monitoring. A watershed is defined as the total area of land that drains into a specific watershed; therefore, litter removal anywhere on the Oak Creek Watershed keeps litter out of Oak Creek! This protects wildlife, habitat, and water quality and encourages others to keep the area clean as well. We find that these cleanups are often a fun team-building activity for groups of coworkers, club members, or any other group of people who are associated but may not know each other well.

Typical Volunteer Tasks

Litter cleanups, either in Oak Creek Canyon or in Sedona. OCWC provides all the necessary materials, so all our volunteers need to bring is outdoor-appropriate clothing and a positive attitude!
